Ther have been many instances where I've seen fangirls gush over how emo and cute L is.

It truly aggravates me. And since it aired on adult swim, a lot of scenefags love the show and give it a bad rep.

L is not emo.
He is quite the opposite of emo.
nor would he ever wear girlpants. He doesn't care enough about his appearance.

Anyone who says otherwise clearly doesn't understand the character. I hate how people say "Oh he has hair in his face and wears eyeliner!" Uh, #1 his hair only get in his face when he's in the rain and #2 his eyebags are dark because he never sleeps!

People always think he's wearing eyeliner...

Apparently noticeable eyes + black hair is qualifications for one to be emo nowadays. Plus they're selling the shirts at hot topic >>;

But really. You can't get much farther away from emo than L. He complains like...once in the entire series. We would need to multiply that by 1000 to even come close to him being emo, and then suck away all of his personal traits, force him into black skinny jeans and a MCR T-shirt, and take away all of his candy.
